Courses Offered

Imagidance

Created by Artistic Director Linze Rickles McRae, this pre-ballet curriculum is designed to spark the imagination and early dancing skills for students ages 3-5. With weekly themes on dance, nature, and social skills, students are introduced to the art of ballet in a fun and creative atmosphere.

Classical Ballet

Our teaching is consistent with the Royal Academy of Dance, the world’s leading teaching and training organization. As the Conservatory’s focus, students are taught with the belief that a good base in ballet technique trains the ability of the dancer to dance with freedom and gives the overall knowledge of dance as a whole. Introduction to classical ballet classes begin with age 6 and progress through levels to the training of beginning to advanced pointe and classical variation studies.

Downtown Dance Artists Ensemble

Students who are recommended for the honors level classes have the opportunity to be a member of this group. Members participate with the Cultural Arts Foundation and the Downtown Dance Conservatory’s mission of sharing and innovating through dance to the community with public performances and various projects. The ensemble performs both locally and internationally in performance tours and arts festivals each season. Training at the level of the ensemble requires dedication and commitment with the emphasis of a pre-professional and career building focus.

Contemporary Dance

These free style classes are a favorite among students with work in free movement, jazz, and modern dance. Students develop their training through strength and stamina exercises, and are also involved with projects in dance theory and creative imagery through movement. Classes are divided into three levels beginning at the Grade 2 level.
