Emily "Emmy" Hengeveld has loved the double bass for more than 50 years. Having grown up in a musical family and through the local schools in NJ where she was raised, she is grateful for the many opportunities she has had to grow as a performer and to share her passion for music with others. She has been teaching music “Bass-ics”for many years helping students open the door to music on many levels and many varied instruments.

Emmy performs with the Rome Symphony Orchestra and the Gadsden Symphony Orchestra and has appeared in several orchestras over the course of her years as a freelance performer throughout the region.

She has five grown children and 9 grandchildren and resides in Wellington, Al. with her husband/roadie and three cats who think the bass sounds pretty cool!
